Gorillaz- On Melancholy Hill This music video is interesting because its all animated which fits in with Gorillaz overall aesthetic as a 'virtual band' created by Damon Albarn. It comprises of four band members; Noodle, 2D, Murdoc and Hobbs. They all feature in this music video that begins with Noodle on a sinking ship, that resembles that of the Titanic, thus using intertextuality. Noodle then walks out with a gun and begins to fire. The rest of the music video then shows the band underwater- following the narrative of the story. One key thing about this music video is that it shows a full story and doesn't have any shots of the band just singing which is usually a key element in most music videos. It also links in with other music videos from songs on Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach. that this song features on. Therefore it stands out due to its editing style and focal point.
