Statement of Intent Draft

 My intent for my music video is to show the three stages of emotions a person experiences after a breakup. This links with the theme of love for the course brief, and I will articulate this through point of view shots where the camera follows my main actor who is being broken up with.  I will begin my music video with this concept and as a result , my actor will enter the first stage of the breakup which is sadness. I will convey this by utilizing close up shots of tears running down her face, and wide shots of her eating junk food as a way of comfort. To further portray my actor as sad I will use text at the beginning of this series of shots saying 'first stage; grief' as well as having dark lighting with a harsh contrast on her face to focus on her tears and smudged makeup.  For the next stage, my actor will experience anger.  What should be on my website- 1. Be up to date and actively promote my artists latest release and news. 2. Not too text heavy 3. Have a clear house style, take inspiration from music video. All part of the same package. 4. Have fast points to link of sale. 5. Easy navigation to internal links. 6. Maintain mode of address such as artist directing to fans, or third person.  7. Include pull quotes in the about section. 8. What audience are you choosing, what do they like.

Textual Analysis

 My textual analysis takes inspiration from a few music videos that I have incorporated in to my own. One music video I have focused on is Still Don't Know My Name by Labrinth. The music video takes clips from hit HBO TV series Euphoria. Labrinth produced music for the TV show and this song also features in it. The clips are largely shown in dark lighting with use of shadows and strobe lights. Dramatic close ups of the characters bathed in different coloured lights features frequently with the use of colour correction and flashes of light. Zoom shots are used as well as fast paced slide transitions between clips. The overall mood is dramatic and fast with tracking shots of characters walking in order to show their movement and creativity.  Use of mise en scene includes the main character, Rue, with glitter sliding down her face.
